My Health Journey

I can't remember the first time I considered what is healthy verses what is not.  I grew up in an age where processed foods were a novelty.  When I was a kid, we drank "Tang" because the astronauts had it in space.  That HAD to be good, right?  We had tv dinners wrapped in tin foil on tv trays in front of.....wait for it.... the tv!  Suddenly a mom could make a whole dinner from a BOX!  Fast food was a rare treat for our family.  We would get so excited to go to Mc Donalds.

When we had our own family, eating dinner around the table was the rare thing and fast food was the norm.  It seemed like we were always running from one sporting event to another.  Eating healthy was always an elusive goal.  But, it was a goal none the less.  I was always reading about healthy diet.  I even took a course at the local Junior College about food, reading labels and making healthy choices.  But, in real life, it was always hard.  I put my family on CRAZY diets.  We were Vegans for many years.

And, through it all, I got older, tire-der (not a word, right?) and fatter.  Now that I am in my fifties the search for healthy lifestyle habits continues.  I have found so many wonderful healthy alternatives for a better life.

Now that my kids are all grown up and I have a life that is truly my own, I love to try every thing and anything.  I have a husband that I adore and a life that just keeps getting more and more interesting.  At 50, hubby and I joined a Rock N Roll band and played music every weekend for almost 3 years.  A few years ago I realized my dream of being a published writer in a newspaper and now a magazine.  As my hubby's photography business began to expand, I decided to become a photographer.  Poof.  Just like that.  In my younger years, I would not have believed so strongly that I can actually DO whatever I want.  In my mid 40's I discovered a healthy eating system that ROCKED my world and changed my entire life.  Since then it's been no looking back.  Because of this amazing program I find myself getting younger each year and having the energy and desire to take on new and exciting challenges.

I want to share this with other people like me! Please take a moment to say Hi!  Find me on Facebook and lets be friends.
